Welcome to Clayton, New York:

WELCOME to the Village of Clayton, New York.  Clayton, a village of approximately 2000, is located in the 1000 Islands region of upstate New York on the beautiful St. Lawrence River.  It is approximately 90 miles north of the city of Syracuse, 30 miles north of the city of Watertown and 15 miles south of the Canadian border.  The Clayton community is very popular with tourists.  Its location on the St. Lawrence River offers many opportunities for fishing, boating, scuba diving, camping and sightseeing.  The St. Lawrence River flows from Lake Ontario and is known for some of the very best sport fishing in the nation.  Cruising on the scenic river, whether in your own boat or one of the touring vessels, is a popular pastime of the many visitors to the area.  Clayton has both daytime and overnight public docking accomodations.  Many camping areas, both state and private, are located close by.  Museums, waterfront concerts, a seasonal theater, antique shops and unique gift and clothing shops are some of the activities that can be enjoyed in Clayton's historic downtown.
